Since the establishment of the MCIT on 1999, there have been
profound waves of changes targeting the development of the
ICT sector in Egypt. While doing that, the MCIT has been relying
on the talent and creativity of Egyptians to achieve the
pre-set goals. Now, we are proud to reap the fruits of the effort
exerted. International reports published by prominent specialized
institutions like McKenzie and A.T. Kearney categorized
Egypt as one of five promising countries in BPO and IT exports
fields, while European Outsourcing Association awarded
Egypt the title of Offshoring Destination of the Year (2010).
This award recognizes the outstanding progress Egypt has
made in the last year as a global outsourcing destination. The
country’s credibility is going from strength to strength amongst
European companies and has put its mark on the map of favored
global services locations.
Egypt’s success in the area of outsourcing has been the result
of a carefully built strategy to create the proper environment
for business; attractive costs, a stable macroeconomic environment,
strategic geographical locations, telecommunication
infrastructure and most of all a competitive pool of human resources.
EDUEgypt has been one of the mechanisms of carrying out the strategy of MCIT in building the talent
pool of the human resources required. Capitalizing on MCIT’s model of public-private partnership,
the MCIT has partnered with different stakeholders on top of which is the Ministry of Higher Education
(MoHE), in order to train Egyptian universities’ students, increase their employability and accommodate
for the needs of this rapidly flourishing industry.
EDUEgypt has contributed to the success of MCIT strategy resulting in attracting more foreign investments
though facilitating thousands of well-trained human calibers annually. I’m confident that with
the same momentum, in few years Egypt will be positioned as the first off-shoring location globally.
I would like to thank all the distinguished stakeholders of this program; ITI&ITIDA for their sincere
effort and I look forward to extending the cooperation among all the stakeholders to build up on the
success achieved and to look forward on the way to position the country as a hub for IT innovation
and entrepreneurship.

برنامج EDU EGYPT التدريبى يركز على مستقبل طلاب المنحة "BPO industry and the EDUEgypt program" .
One of the most important things that distinguishes EDUEgypt from other training programs is its national perspective. This program has started with two Universities & five faculties in its first year. Currently, we have proudly reached 12 universities, addressing more than 18,000 trainees across Egypt in the program’s fourth year of
implementation (Phase IV). It is worth saying that the training is scheduled to start on the 31st of October, 2010.
In preparation of phase IV of EDUEgypt, the Information Technology Institute (ITI) has delivered different orientation sessions in 14 governorates. We have targeted 15 Egyptian
universities addressing second & third year students to build their awareness of the program’s disciplines, the BPO Industry and its importance, and the prerequisites to enter the program.
Despite different dialects that distinguished each governorate, many common things were found in the eyes of the students. They all have a desire to succeed and to make a difference in their futures. We have seen a spirit that would make anyone mad at people
who spread the word that our youth are negative, indifferent or even not ambitious. Students’ interaction with the orientation sessions were phenomena. The way they all approached the presenter to ask for more details after the orientation would make someone, who passed by the orientation hall, think that Amr Diab was inside the room
performing a concert!
This 30-day orientation period was a revelation that the thing our students were in need
of was not only EDUEgypt but also “HOPE”.
Over the past three years of EDUEgypt program they have been a source of ITI’s pride and the first reason for EDUEgypt’s success. They have shared happy and hard times with us and in no single time they have let us down with their cooperation, dedication,
and outstanding performance. They are EDUEgypt’s sterling assets, the trainers!! The date was July 2008 when Under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications & information Technology ( MCIT) along with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), ITI
started the first train the trainer (TTT) program through communing with top leading BPO companies in India in which a top-notch group of trainers was selected for EDUEgypt program.
Time really flies as on the 15th of September of this year, ITI has started its third TTT & refresher programs conducted by IBM & Infosys in preparation of EDUEgypt’s phase IV kick-off.
It goes without saying that EDUEgypt trainers are the most precious thing this project possesses. It is a rare commodity to find; a trainer who is able to affect a person’s life in
a positive way for a lifetime… A trainer who fosters optimism and confidence, provides knowledge that leads to success, and becomes a good role model as our trainers have always been...
